Art by Lyn Graham and Paul Rees
Australian Bird Series
Lyn’s Australian Bird Series of hand-coloured linocut prints has evolved over more than 20 years.
Recently Lyn has included some of the birds in collages along with watercolour paintings, hand-rusted papers and occasionally some wallpaper.
Special paintings
A selection of paintings that aren’t part of a series.
The Enormous Vastness
Lyn and Paul travelled through west Queensland during the Covid lockdowns. This series is inspired by the ancient beauty of the landscapes they saw.
Paul’s Be What You Wanna Be was a finalist in the 2023 Harden Art Prize.
The exhibition was held 9–19 November 2023. See what’s still available
Habitats exhibition
Habitats is Lyn’s watercolour series inspired by the birds, animals and plants of the wetlands, heath, woodlands and shore.
The exhibition was held in March at Vacant Assembly in Brisbane’s West End.
Disappearing Skylines series
Lyn’s Disappearing Skylines is about the impact of climate change, logging, mining, tourism and over-development on urban, coastal, desert and other rural locations.
The Simpson Desert, Torres Strait, Far North Queensland, Galilee Basin, Fraser Island, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Western Bass Strait and Tasmania are depicted.
Brisbane River from the Mountains to the Bay
This work by Lyn consists of 72 individual postcard-size oil-on-board paintings mounted as a single piece, and a handmade artist’s book that tells the story behind the artwork.
Brisbane River from the Mountains to the Bay was a finalist in the 2022 Lethbridge Landscape Prize.
